A Simple Woman's Day Book on Funny Friday

FOR TODAY
Friday, September 22, 2017
Outside my window...
the sun is shining, everything is green, I spy
a couple of Doves around the feeder...
I am thinking...
I should be in the studio working...
A Bible Verse I'm sharing....
1There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—
      2A time to give birth and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

      3A time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.

      4A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
I am thankful...
for a day at home...been a busy week...
In the kitchen...
there'll be quiche and fruit salad for dinner...
beef  stew tomorrow night...
I am wearing...
blue and white pajamas
I am creating...
more applique pieces for
Holly Cottage Christmas quilt
A Song that stays on my mind...

I am reading...
Nora Roberts:
Born in Shame
I am hoping...
for progress today
I am looking forward to...
our Fall trip
In his Garden....
sweet potatoes haven't been dug up, yet
still getting okra and pepper..
From my  Photo album

Looking forward to some scenes I like this...

Happy Friday..
Wil here..
yes, still wearing my summer outfit..
and it is way too warm for a furry bear
can't wait until I can put on my
Fall Sweater
Mama's wanting to put the
scarecrow out on the porch with
some pumpkins
what's happening at your
place today...

Fall In For the Hodge Podge

1. What's something you'd rate a 10/10? Tell us why.My marriage....we've been married 50 years and it just keeps getting better...

2. What job would you be terrible at? What makes you think so?Telephone Solicitation....I simply hate talking on the phone...so thankful for texts and voice mail

3. When did you last take a fall? What's something you're falling for (in a good way) these days?
a couple of weeks ago: I was squatting down to get Smokey's mouse from under a chair and when I started to stand up my feet started sliding and I teetered...ended up hitting my elbow on the floor and my head on the door facing..............What's something you're falling for (in a good way) these days?.Oh if only it wasn't food....
4. According to the Travel Channel here are some of America's best fall festivals-
National Apple Harvest Festival (near Arendtsville PA, close to Gettysburg), Harvest on the Harbor (Portland Maine), German Village Festival (Columbus Ohio), Wellfleet Oyster Fest (Cape Cod), and Wine and Chile Fiesta (Santa Fe NM)
Have you ever been to any of the festivals listed? noWhich one appeals to you most? The apple festival and the wine and chili Does your hometown have any sort of fall celebration, and if so will you make it a point to attend? Yes, we have a street festival on the first Saturday in October.....my women's club sales pizza and drinks, coffee and doughnuts...it is our fund raiser and the proceeds go to charities of our choice....this year I cannot work because I'll be on a tour of New England....my hometown has a harvest festival and I like to try to go about every other year.

5. What is your goodbye message to summer? Hurry up and leave already...

6. Insert your own random thought here.We had some cooler days but today it was 91 and way too hot to go outside and sit on  the porch.

A big shout out to Joyce for continuing to come up with great Hodge Podge..

SUNDAY STEALING

September 16, 2017

Never Have I Ever

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on
WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from, if possible. We also provide a link to the victim's questions in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from recently asked questions from a previously post. Cheers to all of us thieves!

I found this on Facebook and thought I'd take the usual Never Have I Ever format and make it into questions that are easier to understand!

Saturday Scribles

Its been a good week, mostly....I began having some back pain and stiffness on Monday....which was a boomer as I wanted to
work in the studio on the Fall quilt....Daughter had gall bladder surgery on Thursday, and is doing well....
Friday Honey Bear and I took a road trip to Etheridge,
Tennessee to the Amish community near Lawerenceburg....We were
looking for some green peanuts, those that had just been picked off and hadn't dried yet, suitable for boiling....It was surely market day as we saw many a wagon load of pumpkins and gourds on the road being pulled by horses and numerous buggies also....school was in session and we saw the children outside for recess dressed in their black clothes and head coverings.....At the farm we stopped at, the woman of the house came out to serve us and two little girls followed to "see the english"....they were so precious and well behaved...no chatting or complaining but just stared...I said hi to them but they didn't respond.....Other things that made the day were the fields with fresh round bales of hay and the corn gathered into shocks....I didn't get any pictures but you can go here to see some by another blogger....We ate a lunch of peanut butter and crackers with fruit in the car as we drove and made a side track to Big Creek Winery where we sampled and were treated to a tour by the friendly owner....then back home to a dinner of tomato sandwiches and key lime pie......

Saturday Scribles

I thought I would do a catch-up post since its been so long...
I have been working on the Holly Cottage quilt, here are some of the blocks:

I've also started a Fall Maple Leaf quilt which is all pieced, no hand work. All I had to go by is a picture from an advertisement but it has a lot of 2" strips and 2" squares so I've been busy cutting out...As soon as I have a block done, I'll share.
I  recently had another episode of colitis such as put me in the hospital in April...this time I didn't wait until it was that bad before going to the doctor....after 2 bottles of antibiotics I'm all better.
There are a couple of trips and conferences in the next few months so not sure how much stitching I'll be getting done.
We've been having lovely Fall weather this month so I've been spending time outdoors. Oh, yeah, and its football season again. Go tigers!
