Outdoor Wednesday

This is a photo from several years ago....
When we moved here in 2008-09,
we were thrilled with the number and
variety of birds..I had never seen
a Red-Headed Woodpecker.
They would visit our feeder for a
few months starting in May during
their breeding season and even brought
their offspring as seen here
without the red head....
then in 2011, we were hit with
tornadoes in our area on April
27th...many of the taller
trees on the street behind us were
lost....we didn't see the bird that
year or any year since....
Then a couple of weeks ago, I spotted
an adult at our feeder and was so
excited....I count this a blessing
from God..they come to the
feeder early in the morning and
in the evening every day, sometimes
at mid-day, also...I'm hoping
they will soon bring a baby...

Tuesday

Yes, yes, I know its Tuesday...
and I've not posted since Friday...
I'll explain...I was all set to do a post yesterday, got my photos uploaded and everything....but first I went over to Strangers and Pilgrims to print the Proverbs 31 Honey sheet...while I was there I read her Monday post which was a meme kind of thing and looked at the links....I found two blogs that I immediately began to follow:The Blessed Hearth and  Home and Harvest....I like the latter so much that I went back to the beginning of the blog and have been reading posts for two days....

I promise I'll be back to posting and catching up with you soon....
meanwhile....

Funny Friday

Happy Friday, all..
Wil here
As you can see,
I am all dressed for
warm weather...
Only problem is...
this week the weather
isn't warm...
and this 'little' Bear
is freezing...
During the night the
temperature fell to
50 degrees...
Burrr
I think I need to
rethink my attire...
Hope you have a fun
Friday!
and Happy Memorial
Weekend

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What color is prominent in your home? Are you glad about that or wishing you could cover it up or remove it? That would be red....its still my favorite color but I'd like to change the walls in our living room....

2. What's something you'll NEVER do again?

3. Tell us a couple of ways you fit the stereotypes associated with your gender, and a couple of ways you don't. I've spent most of my marriage keeping the home and raising my family....I am a girly girl although I was a tomboy as a kid always paling around with my young uncles....the home is my domain and I like it comfortable....I used to get up with my husband in the morning and make his breakfast, have dinner on the table when he was ready to eat....some things have changed...............a couple of ways I don't fit:: I can fix things....we once built a house and I did the wiring....I pay the bills....I don't mind getting my hands dirty....I bait my hook and clean fish...

4. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. Have you ever owned a motorcycle?  no.... Ever ridden a motorcycle?Once when I was a teenager... If the opportunity presented itself would you hop on a motorcycle and go for a ride?.....no, I think it is too dangerous

5. If someone wanted to understand you, what should they read, watch, and listen to? read syfy, adventure movies like Star Wars and Star Trek, listen to country, classical and soft rock.

6.  Insert your own random thought here I was a product of stereotyping, I suppose. My Daddy had certain things he wouldn't allow his girls to do such as mowing the yard....he didn't think we needed to go to college and always said I would live at home until I married and moved in my  husband's house.....I confess I enjoy having doors opened for me....and although I have held some part time jobs, I've mostly stayed home.....when I was younger I resented that but I'm not as ambitious as I once was.....instead of working a job that paid money, I've spent my life volunteering and I'm proud of who I've become......I always told my Daughter she could do anything......I might have done so she wouldn't feel like she had to fit in a certain niche

A Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
Monday May 20, 2017

Outside my window...
the temperature is a little lower than
previous weeks at 68 degrees
and it is partly cloudy...everything
is green...

I am thinking...
actually wondering if I can
finish this before I have to
rush out the door..

A Bible Verse I'm sharing....
"He has made everything beautiful in
its time, He has set eternity in the
human heart." Ecclesiastes:3:11

I am thankful...
for good health and a happy home

In the kitchen...
fresh fruit and squash from the
garden

I am wearing...
still wearing my pajamas

I am creating...
anticipating Michelle's book
in the mail so I can start stitching...
also plan to start quilting
Trip around the World soon...
working on clearing out 'stuff'

I am going...
to meet friends for lunch and a movie

A Song that stays on my mind...
I am reading...
Product Details

I am hoping...
to finish soon

I am looking forward to...
celebrating Wonder Boy's
Birthday on Saturday
he'll be 19....unbelievable

I am learning
to be happy in whatever
time of life I am in

Around the house...
laundry to switch over...
beds are made...I am tackling
the studio next

I am pondering...
how time can pass so quickly

In his Garden....
strawberries are starting to ripen
if the birds don't beat us to them
and squash are ripening

A favorite quote for today...
"Take Life by the Lapels and
say, I'm with you, kid. Let's go."
Maya Angelou

One of my favorite things...
 listening to music

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Dentist tomorrow morning
lunch with Daughter on Thursday

Road Trip

Honey Bear and I hit the road on Thursday. Our destination was just a little ways up into Tennessee...we took our leisurely time and drove off the beaten path, no interstate traffic at all but saw towns such as Grinder's Switch, Hohenwald, Centerville, Columbia, and Culleoka. We stayed two nights in a lovely B&B: The Inn at Bigby Creek and visited three nearby wineries:Amber Falls, Keg Springs, and Picker's Creek. We met some lovely and friendly folk who made us feel at home. We walked along the Duck River and visited historic squares where the courthouse sits in the center and streets go around it....coming home yesterday, we were blessed with some rain which was badly needed. Today? Just resting. A good weekend.

Hump Day (Wednesday)

Its been a very busy week so far. I have been working on cleaning my closet for over a month and finally finished today...so, with Honey Bear's help, I loaded up the discards and took them to a thrift store....then I washed my car and vacuumed the inside....that was today. Yesterday I worked on some scrapbook pages and finished up laundry....Monday, I went to Kohl's, Sprout's, Hobby Lobby, and picked up my grocery order at Kroger...Anyone else buying groceries on line?  I find it so convenient to buy staples this way....
Honey Bear has been putting his new green house together....I'll show you the old one and the new one when he is finished...
I have joined another Stitch along and ordered a pattern book by Michele Ridgeway...can't wait to get started....I also want to quilt my Trip around the World quilt...
Later....
