Wednesday Hodge Podge

From this Side of the Pond

1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. Has your April been filled with showers? Do you carry an umbrella, wear a slicker, or make a run for it? Besides rain, what else has filled your April? If I'm out in a downpour, I'll use an umbrella. If its just a light sprinkle, I'll wear a windbreaker with a hood. We've had a few rainy days but I was lucky enough to stay inside.....planting flowers, wearing capris and sandals, Easter celebration.

2. What's something you could you give a 30-minute presentation on at a moment's notice and with zero preparation? Genealogy

3. Share with us a favorite food memory from childhood. When corn was ready for picking from the garden, Mother would put an ear or two in the oven to roast, then we'd eat it with salt and butter. Yum

4. What's a song you thought you knew the lyrics to, but later discovered you were wrong?

5. According to one travel website, the most overrated tourist attractions in America are-
Niagara Falls (NY), Hollywood Walk of Fame (California), Times Square (NYC), Epcot (FL), Seattle Space Needle (WA), and Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market (Boston). How many of these have you seen in person? Did you feel like a tourist? Did you care? Tell us about a place (not on the list) you've visited that might be considered a tourist trap, but you love it anyway. Niagara Falls, we stopped by on our way somewhere else in the early Fall, it was raining and chilly, we got soaked and couldn't really tell that much about it........Seattle Space Needle, with my inner ear problem, I would have to say it wasn't a great experience but I did it.  I didn't really feel like a tourist.....We tend to take the unbeaten path and go where it is least crowded, so I have no answer to the last question.

6. Your signature clothing item? a knit three quarter length sleeve top, in red, black or blue.

7. What's an experience you've had you think everyone should experience at least once? Why?

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I didn't have an answer to a couple of these, mainly because nothing came to mind.....Honey Bear and I took a risk once and opened a franchise...for the next 2 years we worked 7 days a week and sometimes were midnight getting home....meanwhile we watched our savings dwindle away month by month while the business never broke even....closing was a tough decision but the right one for us....looking back I believe that we were blessed during the struggle and learned a lot about each other....we met many wonderful people.....We are not sorry we did this but I certainly wouldn't recommend that others do it..Life is a journey, sometimes hard and sometimes easy but Faith and Love can help you as you travel.

Tuesday Tidbits

This morning we got up to rain which was welcome...I went for my walk on the treadmill while listening to Alan Jackson....then I decided to clean out my closet...I moved some winter clothes to the guest room closet and summer to the main closet....I did not finish, but then started straightening the studio and ended up doing some scrapbook pages....does anyone else do this, flit about from one project to another....

Then....Smokey let me know it was lunchtime at about 12-12:30 as usual so I took care of him and now have stopped to eat my own lunch: yogurt, trail mix and cheez-it snack mix(100 calorie pack)...guess my busyness is over for today...

What have you been up to on this Tuesday....

A Simple Woman's Daybook

                                                                   FOR TODAY:
Monday, April 17, 2017
9:40 a.m.
Outside my window...
Its a cloudy day. I see a Squirrel
under the bird feeder and
blossoms on the apple tree. My flowers
have been planted for a week and are starting
to grow.

I am thinking...
about how well I'm feeling and
thanking God for his healing

A Bible Verse I'm sharing....
Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others.
Be humble, thinking of others as better than
yourselves. Don't look out only for your
own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Phillipians 2:3&4

I am thankful...
for my health, my family, my faith
In the kitchen...
leftovers from the weekend...
maybe I won't be cooking for
a few days. Daughter sent lots
of food home with us so
it wouldn't be tempting her..

I am wearing...
burgundy capris and a beige
striped top with burgundy
words: Wander and Mountains
I am creating...
nothing for a month...but need to
find time to get back to it.
I am going...
to stay home for the next few days
I am wondering...
if I all this walking will
help me lose weigh even if
I eat normally...
A Song that stays on my mind...
right now, I'm listening to Faith Hill's
new album, Deep Tracks
I am reading...
Product Details
I am hoping...
to start cleaning my closet today..
I am looking forward to...
attending the Faith Hill/ Tim McGraw
concert with Daughter this weekend..
I am learning
to walk and keep on walking
even when my joints hurt...

Around the house...
laundry needs switching from
washer to dryer, closet is
calling me to begin on the
sorting and discarding...
In his Garden....
He has planted Spinach, Tomatoes,
Zuchinni, and some Sunflowers....
A favorite quote for today...
If you can't see the bright side,
polish the dull side.
One of my favorite things...
wearing sandals
A few plans for the rest of the week:
may have to shop for a few groceries, walk everyday,
go to Birmingham on Friday

Wow! April Already...

I finally finished my therapy and now can use my right arm for most things...Problem was all that downtime caused other problems....Just recovering from bronchitis and Colitis...hoping to be more active starting now because I really need to limber up and hopefully avoid more surgery...

Daughter had two surgeries, one in July and another in January. HOney Bear had a thyroid lobe removed on January 31st so we've seen all the local surgery centers and are ready some healthy months.

Good thing is Spring is here so we'll be outside more....He's working in his garden and I am taking it slow with trips around the yard and inside the house but I'm feeling good and want to try some mile long walks and maybe visit the wellness center for some classes...its free on my insurance so no excuse not to go.

I'll be visiting soon and catching up on all your blogs. God bless!
