A Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...
Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Outside my window...
It is 79 degrees with cloudy skies
and a slight breeze...I can
hear the wind chimes...a Wren is
searching for insects among my
potted flowers, Finches are on the feeder...
Geraniums and the Butterfly Bush are
blooming...
I am thinking...
I should finish this quickly
I am thankful...
for the inch of rain we received
on Friday...we'd only had a quarter
inch all month before that...also
for the cooler temperatures since then
I am wearing...
denim crops and a dark peach top
I am creating...

recognize this? I hadn't worked on
it in about 8 months but got it
out yesterday and plan to finish it soon....
I've also sorted some fabric for the
rest of Gardener's Journey...
I'm getting excited about seeing the finished
project...
I am going...
no where else today
I went to the post office and
Wally World earlier...I want
to can some tomatoes on Thursday
and I needed some more pint jars
I am wondering...
what is wrong with blogger or is
it my computer
I am reading...
National Security
by Marc Cameron
I am hoping...
I'm able to publish this when
I'm finished....my cues are
not being read correctly
In my garden...

A song that stays on my mind...

In my kitchen...
just took this Blackberry
Cobbler out of the oven
A favorite quote for today...
Smokey asleep on the foot of my
recliner earlier this morning
One of my favorite things...
rain when we need it most...

here to help you.'
I am thinking...
its been too long since I visited
blogger
I am thankful...
that I can stay home today
I am wearing...

I am creating...
applique leaves
I am going...
no where today
I am wondering...
what to do next

to spend time with Daughter
before she leaves on

Wednesday Hodge Podge

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 223

1. What's something you're looking forward to in the month of June?
Well, nothing really, yet. I was just thinking this morning that we need to plan something...I think we need to have things to look forward to even if it is an outing for an hour or a day....My choir group is singing for the Senior Luncheon at church on the fourth Thursday, patriotic songs and we're to dress in red, white and blue...so that is one thing on the calendar....but now that the chickens are gone, I think Honey Bear and I should take a weekend trip...we used to do that spontaneously or just decide on an impromptu picnic...not so much anymore.

2. In what way have you come full circle?
In the fact that its just the two of us again but really that has been so for 12 years now...
3. Lonely Planet lists 10 spots in America you should see in 2015 and the reasons why. How many on the list have you seen? Which one on the list would you most like to see?

Queens NY, Western South Dakota, New Orleans, Colorado River Region, North Conway NH, Indianapolis IN, Greenville SC, Oakland CA, Duluth MN, and the Mount Shasta Region CA
New Orleans
4. A song that describes your mood right now?

5. Strawberry ice cream, strawberry short cake, strawberry pie, or strawberries right off the vine...your favorite?
Strawberry ice cream but choosing the weight conscious way, I eat my Strawberries straight from the vine
6. Aesop's birthday is celebrated on June 4th, although there is some disagreement as to whether or not that's accurate, or if he was even a real person. Regardless, the name Aesop is associated to this day with many well known fables. Which of the following best applies to something in your life right now? The Tortoise and the Hare(Slow and Steady wins the race), The Ant and the Grasshopper (Be prepared), The Fox and the Goat (Look before you leap) or The Crow and the Pitcher (Necessity is the mother of invention)?
The Tortoise and the Hare
7. The answer is yes...what's the question?
Do you feel younger than your age suggests?
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Took a break in writing my post to watch some videos with Honey Bear....I've finally let him convince me to do our tile shower ourselves....it won't be his first since he worked with tiling baths during college and he recently did the kitchen back splash. You can watch how-to videos about most any project online now.

A Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...
Tuesday, June 2, 2015
Outside my window...
the grass and porch are wet from recent rain..
Squirrels are eating on the ground around the feeder..
Chickadees and Titmouse dart in to grab seed and go..
sort of like a drive through....Robins are searching..
for worms to feed their young..I'm
hearing a neighbor or a lawn service using a..
weed eater...my new Butterfly Bush is blooming..
the old one was killed by the winter's extreme temperatures..
that one was purple but this one is a beautiful red color..
the old one was several years old..
A Bible verse I'm sharing...
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1
I am thinking...
this is the first time I've blogged in weeks..
I've been helping Daughter and Granddaughter..
pack and move..
I am thankful...
Daughter didn't want much help unpacking..
she wanted to do that herself.. she is a very
organized person and enjoys the process..
I'm thankful she and the children are back..
over here closer to me..
I am wearing...
white knit pants and a mauve top
I am creating...
nothing much except tidy spaces and journal pages..
I, so, need to get back in the craft room and get busy
I haven't even begun on this months' blocks for the
SAL quilt..
I am going...
to stay home the rest of the day....the Princess
and I went and moved a load of odds and ends in my
van about 2 hours ago...
I am wondering...
about lunch..
I am reading...
finished A Wanted Man by Lee Child
yesterday and haven't begun another yet...it was a
library loan...I need to check out another one(on Kindle)
I am hoping...
to finish this soon, getting hungry..
I went for a walk before the moving trip
an it has been a long time since my
granola bar at breakfast..
In my garden...

In my kitchen...
I'm warming the veggies I prepared last
night for Honey Bear's lunch to go with cornbread
and Cole slaw..there is also cantaloupe cut up
in the fridge..
A favorite quote for today...
"to reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometime with the
wind and sometimes against it but we must sail,
not drift and not lie at anchor."
Oliver Wendell Homes
From my photo album...
two of my favorite people
One of my favorite things...
making other people happy
