A Simple Woman's Daybook

This daybook is brought to you by The Simple Woman
Outside my window...
58 °F cloudy and dark...the temperature is supposed to go down from here
with a low in the 20s tonight...not much bird activity at present...a good day to stay inside
Hearing...
the furnace just came on..otherwise its quiet
I am thinking...
I've got to get some Birthday cards in the mail pronto...
The recycle bin I sat outside  is
probably full of rain water..I wonder if
they will still pick it up
Feeling thankful for...
the check from Dental Insurance that came in the mail
unexpected
Day 30

I am remembering...
our vacation in the mountains...just downloaded the
photos
Creating this...
Nothing since last week
I am currently reading...
Innocent by Scott Turow
and
On Strike for Christmas
by Sheila Roberts
One year ago today...
It was raining and cold..I was trying to get
packages in the mail..hadn't started decorating
I am hoping...
to catch up on my to-do list today
On my mind..
should I go to the grocery store first thing
or can I get by..Is there a dish I can make with what I
have on hand....
Have you seen the video to Kenny Chesney's song
The Boys of Fall? I can't get that song
out of my head..
Noticing that...
my body is wearing out..it gets
harder and harder to
get up from a squatting position..
why do they put items on low shelves in the shops
Pondering these words...
"Will is the root, knowledge is the stem and leaves,
and feeling is the flower." Sterling
From the kitchen...
Just finished eating an apple pastry with my coffee...
I'm thinking I'll make White Chicken Chili this weekend...
plans for the potlucks I have to attend later in the week...
the pantry could use some tidying...
fruitcake or fruitcake cookies?
I am remembering...
Daddy went home 11/29/06
I miss you both
Around the house...
Still some unpacking ...laundry,
tidying to do
I am praying for...
self-control
A few plans for the week...
I have two events that require me to
carry a food dish...I'm thinking of making Apple Cake and
either a casserole or salad
Monday: MCHCL board meeting(already typed up the minutes),
Thursday: MCHCL Council meeting
Friday: Book Club Brunch
Daughter's Birthday
One of my favorite things...
wood fire in the fireplace...we
had one every day of our vacation...
I want to take the gas logs out of our fireplace so we can
burn wood.

realized they were so small

Meet Me On Monday

Welcome to the 24th edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Brought to you by "Java" at Never Growing OldBlogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!
Questions:

1.  What is your favorite way to eat chicken?
strips, tenders, fingers, whatever they're called, you get the idea
2.  Have you decorated for Christmas yet?
No, give me a break, I just got back from the mountains yesterday and it isn't even the first day of December....I'll probably begin to do a little this week, although it is a busy week for me.
3.  What is your favorite article of clothing?
pajamas.....followed by warm up suits....and then jeans
4.  Do you pay your bills online or write checks the old way?
 Pay online or by draft
5.  Do you make Christmas cookies?
Yes, although not always the cut out sugar cookie kind...usually I make fruitcake cookies or something like that...last year I made about 4 different kinds of cookies to give as gifts.

I know that I've missed a few days posting but I was still thankful in my heart.
Day 24 I was thankful for a safe trip to the mountains
Day 25 I was thankful not to have the traditional meal so I didn't have to spend the day cooking
Day 26  WAR EAGLE....I was thankful my team won the Iron Bowl
Day 27 I was thankful that the cabin had a fireplace and Honey Bear could build a fire...It was 25 degrees
Day 28 I was thankful to be home in my quiet and peaceful house
Day 29 I'm thankful that I have a meeting this morning or else I would probably still be in bed.
Instead, I am sitting here with Smokey who is partially in my lap while I type.

Mary at Mary's Writing Nook is having a Christmas Book Swap...I've participated in this for the past two years...If you're interested, go by and join because it closes TODAY.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

A Simple Woman's Daybook

Stop by and visit Peggy if you have a chance...you'll find links there to other daybooks.

Outside my window...there's misting rain and wind and a carpet of leaves...68 degrees F with an expected high of 70 today....the fish are swimming on top of the pond, they think its summer again...I hung a suet feeder on Thursday and already we have had a Downy Woodpecker visit
Hearing...wind chimes...motors in the distance...ticking clocks
I am thinking...I should just go back to bed....I was up scrapbooking until almost 2AM
Feeling thankful for...rain when we need it....
 &...Family traditions
Day 22 & 23

I am remembering...dreams I had last night
Creating this...

The bag is finished except for a few tweaks...I have the insert for the bottom(to make it firm) to finish...I made a pocket and will fill it with a piece of cardboard but leave the end open so it can be removed when laundering the bag....the vest below is for my daughter(it is light blue denim, the wall to the left is blue too, don't know why it showed up this color)....this is the first garment I've made on my new machine, which is relatively new, and I loved the way the machine performed..I love my machine.

I am currently reading...Innocent by Scott Turow
One year ago today...
the closest I came was November 20th...I had been to a card workshop...drawn a winner for my blogaversary give away.....was getting ready for my son and his family to visit for Thanksgiving...and had a peculiar headache, which I still have occasionally and still haven't seeked a medical opinion about.
I am hoping...the rain is over before Honey Bear drives home tonight
On my mind...all the things I need to pack for our trip tomorrow...do you make lists? I couldn't get by without my lists
Noticing that...stores are opening earlier every year on Black Friday
Pondering these words...
"Why is there then
No more to tell? We turned to other things,
I haven't any memory--have you?--
Of ever coming to the place again"...Robert Frost, "The Exposed Nest"
From the kitchen...3 sampler salads and coconut shrimp from Earth Fare...a toasted pastry for breakfast..later I will be making Potato Soup to take on our trip for dinner tomorrow night
Around the house...I've actually wrapped a few gifts...the house is still relatively tidy and clean except for the studio....I need to change the bed linen  ...packing in progress for our trip.....leaves keep getting tracked in from outside
I am praying for...
All of us who are missing our loved ones on Thanksgiving....Jennifer.....Robert & Heather...Honey Bear
A few plans for the week...
Monday, I had a dental appointment at 12:30 to have the new crowns put on, daughter and I ran errands, picked up a few essentials for our meals during the holidays, and finalized meal plans......T0day, I am going to prepare some food items to take on our trip....Wednesday, (yea!) we're leaving for our cabin in the mountains....Thursday, relaxing and enjoying family time-Thanksgiving meal in the evening...Friday & Saturday, we have possible activities in the works but haven't settled on them yet as it depends on the weather...a definite hike in the woods sometime during our stay and some hot tub time...Iron Bowl on Friday afternoon....dinner out on Saturday night.....Home on Sunday
One of my favorite things...
Spending time with family!

Meet Me On Monday

Each week, Java posts questions for us to answer to help get to know each other better...she says:
Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday I will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

"Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!!!"....as quoted by the Chacogirl!! I will make this SIMPLE and FUN!!!

30 Days of Thanksgiving

Day 21
I'm thankful for my children!
I am somewhat jealous of those of you who have all of your children home for the holidays...Its only happened occasionally for me....and I only have two children...
But, I'm happy that my son will be with his family and that my dear DIL will have her parents with her...I know what it is like to live away from family, I have been there, done that.

30 Days of Thanksgiving

Day 20
I'm thankful that I live in the southern portion of the United States
where there are many evergreen trees so that even in the Winter there is some greenery.

30 Days of Thanksgiving

Day 18 & 19

I'm thankful for a quiet house
and music when I want to hear it.

And

Week 3
Give Away

I'm a little late with this one because I didn't have all the elements I wanted to include...
Instrumental sounds of the season, candle light, bath salts, my favorite lotion for dry skin and some comfy socks.
Just a little collection of things to help you relax and unwind after a day of Christmas shopping.
Leave a comment and your name will be included in all three give aways.
Celebrating 4 years of blogging.

Soon!

This one was made from the screen porch.

We're going here next week...I can hardly wait!

30 Days of Thanksgiving

Day 17
I'm thankful for Honey Bear's Job!
I guess we're a little old fashioned but its the way we were raised so blame it on our roots. My man believes that the husband is head of the house and that part of his role is to provide for his family. He never wanted me to work outside the home. I've had a few jobs through the years but we never depended on what I made to pay bills or buy groceries.
Who knows, we might have done things differently if we had been just starting out in today's world.

A Simple Woman's Daybook

For today...

Outside my window...
It is kind of dark, 60 degrees with light rain...the porch is covered with Maple Leaves..not much bird activity...time to put suet out
Hearing...
traffic in the far distance...the new houses are dried in so not much noise from that quarter..
rain and wind
I am thinking...
I need to journal today
.
Day 16
I'm thankful for Friends!

I am remembering...
when days were longer
Creating this...
working on the bag and my scrapbook pages
finished the vest and haven't started a new stitchery...
need to do some hand quilting in the evenings
hopefully a more tidy studio
I am currently reading...
Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult
One year ago today...
I was looking forward to the visit of my son and his family...wish I was doing the same this year...
making holiday plans...enjoying Fall...there was that incident at Fort Hood in the news
I am hoping...
the Princess aces the test I helped her prepare for last night
On my mind...
getting ready for the meeting I'm having today...I am going to serve as President of my women's club next year...we're having a planning meeting this morning
Noticing that...I do not want to go anywhere on days like this...just want to hibernate...I do hope I find the motivation to work on crafts and projects in the studio.
Pondering these words...
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

From the kitchen...
Sausage Balls, Mixed Fresh Fruit, Turnovers, Coffee and Juice for the meeting
Leftover Beef Stew in the fridge
Still need to make that pumpkin bread...I wonder if I set the can of pumpkin on the counter if that will help me get it done......I did a major cleaning in the kitchen on the weekend but the inside of both refrigerators need cleaning.
Around the house...
things look very tidy but don't go in the studio.....I'm in the middle of a couple of things in there plus there are Christmas gifts in store bags waiting to be wrapped....
candles are burning...need to add a little light music.
I am praying for...
Kayren's husband, Robert who is being a living donor, the surgery was yesterday...what an amazing story.
Denise W.: Praise for a good report from her doctor
Mary: still recovering from heart surgery
Safe travel for Honey Bear this afternoon
Good report from doctor for Anni
My family, coming up on the date of Daddy's 2006 Home going
My son and his wife as they face his second deployment
And you
A few plans for the week...
the meeting this morning....then a clean calendar for a change except for fellowship dinner tomorrow night...maybe I'll get some work done here at home....need to plan for our vacation next week: Wednesday-Sunday in Blue Ridge, Georgia
One of my favorite things...
seeing a lower number on the scale when I weigh on Mondays...its been a while since that has happened but I'm praying for change here.
From my picture file...
Open Air Worship

Thanking Peggy for the creation of The Simple Woman's Daybook.

Meet Me On Monday

I'll be back with another post later for another give away. I've  decided to combine all the names of those who commented on the give away posts and draw a winner for each week from that.

It's Monday and I am joining Java for this blog carnival, as usual..

She says it is #22 and...

Questions:

1.  Do you eat Sushi?
No, I've never tried it.
2.  What kind of bath soap do you use?
Johnson&Johnson Purpose or white Dial because of allergies
3.  How often do you talk to your Mom?
She went home July 2005 so I can't actually talk to her on the phone....I do find myself talking to her at times...wishing she could answer questions or fill in the blanks of my life story
4.  What TV shows do you watch on a regular basis?
I catch Millionaire quiet often at 6:30 PM but don't watch any others on a regular basis.5.  Did you start Christmas shopping yet?
The question here should be have I finished because I shop all year...I've usually bought the first one before Winter is over....I'm finished except for a couple of things.

Thanks for stopping by,
Mama Bear
