A Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY...Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in Huntsville, Alabama, USA

Outside my window...Its 34°F, 1°C, cloudy with a 20% chance of snow and very dark....earlier I saw a Mockingbird fighting off a small flock of blackbirds as well as running off a dove and a Blue Jay from the feeder...he seemed to be very upset and I wondered 'did he have a nest nearby or was he just wanting all of the suet for himself?'

I am thinking...I am so happy to be home today....yesterday I met with my 'movie club' and we went to see "Admission" at the Jones Valley Carmike and then had lunch at Mezza Luna, an Italian restaurant...I was gone most of the day

I am thankful...to be feeling well....for answers to prayers...for the rebate check in the mail from our credit card company...for good books to read and the ability to use my hands to create....for pine trees and Mockingbirds and little baby chicks..

From the kitchen...left over potatoes au gratin, chicken tenders and slaw for dinner

I am wearing...pink and white pajamas and robe

I am creating...angel Christmas ornaments......cross stitch...and hopefully will work some on my rag quilt and the cozy fleece wraps for nursing homes this week...

I am going...to stay home today

One year ago today...it was 61 degrees with a predicted high of 81.....I was working on the SAL quilt, doing some scrapbook layouts and gearing up for a workshop......it was Spring Break and I was planning to see 'Hunger Games' with Wonder Boy and the Princess....I was reading 'Alter of Eden' by James Rollins....Spring had me feeling excited and energetic

I am wondering...Do you own a fur coat? I don't but a couple of the ladies I was with yesterday wore theirs....

These days I'm reading...Believing the Lie by Elizabeth George

I am praying...for Betty who is recovering from surgery....for Genece who has problems with her knee....for Rene as she deals with parent problems.....for my son who will soon be deployed again....for an end to winter and a long Spring....for you my readers

I remember when...we were at our lake house one March during Spring Break when it rained so hard and so much that the water rose up into the boathouse and tried to float items away and I was working so hard to secure everything.

I am looking forward to...warmer temperatures, more sunshine and lots of pretty flowers on the porch......oh, and tomatoes from the garden

A verse for today...Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.

I am hearing...nothing....it is quiet here

Around the house...the bed is unmade because Smokey got under the comforter while I was making  it........the dishwasher needs to be unloaded.....I need to do something productive

Song that stays on my Mind...
I heard this, last Thursday, sung by a Mother and her two children, as entertainment at our District meeting...

A favorite quote for today..."Let us first be as simple and well as Nature ourselves, dispel the clouds which hang over our brows, and take up a little life into our pores. Do not stay to be an overseer of the poor, but endeavor to become one of the worthies of the world." Thoreau

One of my favorite things...spending time with friends

A few plans for the rest of the week: Lunch with Wonder Boy tomorrow....going to the movies with him, the princess and their mom on Friday to see "The Great and Powerful Oz".....shopping and preparing for Easter lunch

From my photo file....

  4. Ha ha I have just played the song and now it is in my mind all the time. We used to teach that to the kids in our church and they did actions to it. It is such a happy song.
    Happy Easter to you.
