A Simple Woman's Daybook

From Mama Bear's Journal....
FOR TODAY....Tuesday, February 5, 2013, 9:30am

Outside my window..50°F,10°C and overcast...the porch is wet from overnight rain.....I can see 3 squirrels scampering around with each other under the apple tree...

I am thinking...I really want to stay home today....I went on a road trip yesterday to meet my sisters and go with them to visit our Aunt in the Nursing Home.....we had a good time together...first we had coffee at Burger King, then the visit, after that we split up and I went to a fabric outlet while they ran errands, then we met for lunch at Frizzles before I headed back home....it was good to see both of them..

I am thankful...that I don't have to go out to work on days like this

From the kitchen...I am going to make a Tomato/Beef/Noodle casserole for dinner and mix up some Cole Slaw.....I'm thinking of making a pot of Pasta e Fagioli Soup Tomorrow with some leftover beans and some ham from the freezer...

I am wearing...lavender pajamas with Eeyore and red stars printed on them , a red T and my light weight robe.

I am creating...

these squares I talked about last week..
I've made 10 and need to work in that little end thread on
all of them
I am going...to stay home today

One year ago today...It was 38 degrees and the sun was shinning....early Spring Flowers were beginning to show their stems peeking from the ground....I was sort of in a dry spell as far as creating.....suffering from the January Blues....reading One Moment, One Morning.....looking forward to our anniversary and Club Retreat

I am wondering...if we're even supposed to go away for our anniversary this year...we keep picking dates and B&Bs and then finding out they aren't available.

These days I'm reading...? I finished Night Circus last night and haven't started another book yet....I'm debating what to choose from my stack or my kindle.....I've been book shopping this morning but so far I'm in limbo....I'll decide on something before late afternoon, I'm sure...

I am praying...for Rene...Susan....Lindsey...Denise in Oklahoma.....Faye....Pat....Jill's Dad...and for my blogging friends who are going through illness or family crisis...

I remember when...I was growing up, my Daddy had hunting guns hanging in the hall on a gun tree.....I never touched them....I knew better.....

I am looking forward to...Spring walks

A verse for today...Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Discovering that....the sun is shinning afterall

I am hearing......the washing machine has stopped...there is silence

Around the house...Oh, the bed needs to be made and the laundry switched and the floor vacuumed and .....

Song that stays on my Mind...
He has a new album coming out soon.......

A favorite quote for today..."You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." -Dr. Seuss

"Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." -Robert Heinlein

One of my favorite things...pedicures.........I need to go and get one

A few plans for the rest of the week: Mammogram tomorrow, shopping at Walmart, carry a meal to a friend who had foot surgery today......Thursday: maybe that pedicure...meeting in the evening.........Friday: No plans yet..........Saturday: our County awards day at Grille 29

From my photo file....

  2. I haven't eaten at a Frizzles since the one closed down on University Drive. Now you've got me hankering for it. ha.

I remember going to my grandparent's house and seeing guns hanging on the wall. I never even thought twice about it being unusual, but I guess I might think so now. Times change, don't they? Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Have fun at your mammogram tomorrow. ha. Good for you for going.

Love those pansies! I'm about to have a buttercup bloom, maybe tomorrow. Always exciting. Enjoy our sunshine while it lasts.

  3. REALLY enjoyed your beautiful picture of the flowers. We have so much snow right now that it is hard to remember that Spring WILL come. Your picture was a nice reminder. :)

  4. Lovely post ! I am just discovering blogs and learning about posting. I truly enjoyed how this post flows. The richness of the squares you will eventually be piecing together, the way your pieced your phrases together , bright hardy colorful pansies ~ the whole post draws you in and of course who could resist sharing moments and music with Tim McGraw !

  5. Our family was recently discussing how we all grew up with guns around, and we never even considered bothering them! In fact, a lot of guys rode around with them mounted in the back window of their trucks. Times sure have changed...

Your beautiful picture of the flowers gives me spring fever :)
