What's On Your Nightstand?

The point of this monthly carnival is to bring booklovers together. It’s our hope that you will participate when you can, and also that you will visit around some of the others on the list. Please visit Jennifer at 5 Minutes for Books, who hosts this carnival on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

I actually started reading this book before New Years Day. I only finished it
today. It is the first book of his I've read. I found it very interesting and although it looks like its not a large book, it is quite lengthy because the type is small. The story is set in Charleston, one of my favorite cities and is narrated by Leo. It is the tale of 8 unlikely friends who meet before their senior year and remain friends throughout their lives.

This is my book club's pick for February discussion. It is a fictionalized account of the lives of the first family from the Bible told through the eyes of the women in that family. I am reading this book now and am not sure how I feel about it. A friend of mine says you should read the first 100 pages of a book before you decide to continue or give it up..I am on page 111 and plan to continue.

Again this is on my book club list for discussion. This time in March. It is a dual biography of the partnership and unconventional marriage between the President and First Lady.

  1. I do not read fiction except for Frank Peretti, but the Franklin and Eleanor looks like something I might read. Now my husband would grab that up. He loves history... I used to love to read fiction of the South in the days of slavery but I do not enjoy that much either. I am reading The Spiritual Man by Watchman Nee and that bogs my mind if I am not careful...... I was not raised to read so it does not come natural. We were raised in front of the TV...... so I had to retrain myself....

    Have a great Wednesday girl......

  2. I've not read anything by Pat Conroy, but I love Charleston. Might give that a try some day. The one about the Roosevelts looks good, too.

  4. The first book looks like it might be a good read. I've never read a book by him. The second book...not sure if I'd read it or not. What a great way to get books listed...I love reading. Can't wait to see more of this. Hugs

  5. I haven't read any of those. . . I did read a fiction book called "Almost Perfect" by Julie Ortolon. It isn't a keeper but it was fun to read.

  6. I haven't read a book in I don't know how long! I used to be addicted to books, could read 2 in one day and was forever at the library getting more and more books. I then got ill with anxiety/depression and I completely lost my interest in reading books:-( Even though I'm better now I still don't have the concentration it takes to read a book. Hopefully one day my love of reading will come back:-) xoxo

  7. It's been so long since I've posted on this meme. Well over a year, maybe even two. I had trouble focusing on what was on my nightstand and not in my basket to be read. I don't always decide on my next book until I'm done with the one I'm reading! It was nice to see your choices. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the Eve book either. The couple of books I can remember not finishing I made to about page 50 and 80. I don't regret not finishing those.
