Saturday Scribbles

It is a beautiful day with sunshine and temperatures in the upper 80s.....I've not been outside but the wind is blowing and I'm hoping it will be cool enough for sitting outside during happy hour...it is one of our simple pleasures, just spending some quality time sitting on the glider, holding hands, and watching the wildlife while we chat about all sorts of things....I was listening to a song yesterday about a widow and the missing of her beloved....she said she misses him on Sunday the most...it got me thinking about our special times and how much I'd miss Honey Bear if something happened to him.....
Last night we did some planning of our October vacation....if you've been visiting here for a number of years, you know we take our vacations in the early part of the year, around February or March and then in October....this year we're planning to spend some time on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the areas near it, mostly in North Carolina.....We like to spend time off the beaten path....
Tea with friends yesterday at a new tea room in Madison called, Tea and Thee......We loved it.....the food was awesome and there was so-o much of it....the service was excellent, too.......
I bought some raw peanuts in the shell yesterday and cooked them for about 18 hours in the crockpot with salt........boiled peanuts: a simple southern pleasure.......
Had some great news yesterday morning: Son will be home for R&R some time near Thanksgiving.....can't wait to see him....."Lord keep him safe while he's on foreign soil".......
I set out a pack of frozen zucchini this morning to make Zucchini Quiche for dinner, I'll serve it with some slices of melon..yum....
Well, its officially Summer now....what's happening in your world this morning?

  1. It's a small world.....you mention visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway & area, we are planning a house hunting trip in September. We discovered a sweet, little town west of Asheville NC called Weaverville. We don't like where we are, and of course really miss the 4 seasons. It gets even better - it snows in Weaverville! Color me happy.

Can't wait to hear more about your vacation plans.

    Happy Saturday

  2. Sounds like lazy summer evenings.Enjoy. We are in Winter here in Australia, so it gets a bit chilly at night.

I've never had zucchini quiche - sounds interesting.

So good your son will be home this year!

  5. Your Saturday sounds just lovely. How do you freeze your zucchini? I have only shredded it for freezing in the past.

    God bless.
