Saturday Scribbles

I can see that I haven't posted all week. I'd like to say it was because I was so busy being productive with chores, creating, and other activities but the truth is, the week was mostly cloudy with rain and chilly temperatures and I just wasn't in the mood to blog or do much else.

I made this one photograph this week of a Hickory tree in someone's yard. I used my phone so the photo doesn't really do the tree justice. This is one of the prettiest types of trees we have in the Fall.

We're supposed to be having a few more days of sunny warm weather and I need it. This morning, the sun has peaked out a couple of times but its still cloudy, but not cold. Its too early for winter. I love Fall and I want it to last until Thanksgiving, at least. I want to do all the things outside that I've put off because it was too hot and humid.

Tuesday, my Club had breakfast at Cracker Barrel to celebrate Alabama Homemakers Week. That was fun. So many times when we get together we are conducting business or working on project, so it was nice to just have time to chat with each other about other things.

Thursday morning, we had a workshop to make table decorations and favors for our upcoming state conference. I'll try to photograph these and show them to you later. We have another workshop this coming week for the same purpose. Our conference is the 23-25 and there is still much to do to get ready. We are giving away a pink and white quilted wall hanging for donations to the local Breast Cancer Research organization. Tuesday night we will have a speaker who is a Breast Cancer survivor and a local TV personality. We have also made a quilt for her as a thank you, I have to stitch down the binding on it this week.

Frost was predicted Wednesday night and Honey Bear had to cover our plants for protection. I have got to wash, repot and bring in some of the more delicate ones before the weather gets much cooler.

I've been doing a little Christmas Shopping as I'm out and about. I usually have it finished by November 1. It isn't as difficult as it once was. I don't have as many to buy for and my 'grands' would just as soon have money now that they are older.

Hope your weekend is going well.

  1. Oh my goodness Mama Bear, I can't believe that you are so organised and buying for Chrismas.

I haven't even thought about it yet
hmmm must get myself into thinking mode or it will be a last minute rush as usual.

You sound busy and happy, breakfast meetings and workshops sound good.
Pity about your poor plants though.

    I love autumn weather too!

Thanks so much for linking up with Green Day at Raindrops and Daisies, it is great having you participate.

Wishing you a lovely week my friend.

  2. Your club activities sound fun. I'm hoping fall lasts, too. Some here are saying we'll have an early winter but I hope not.

  4. Sounds like you had a very nice week -- productivity notwithstanding! I didn't realize it was Alabama Homemaker's Week. What does that mean, exactly?! :)

  5. Beautiful tree photo...I can see why it's one of your favorites. Mama Bear? ----I had to do a mouseover for all your text 'cause the yellow is too difficult to read on the white background. Just saying.
