Wednesday Hodge Podge

Giddy Up Hodgepodge #45

1. Do you like chili? Red or white? Beans or no beans? Spice or no spice? Toppings?
yes   I think I actually prefer white but serve both. Beans and Mild Spice. Topped with cheddar cheese
2. Red~Orange~Gold...your favorite fall color?
Well since you put it that way: Red...I think I like the Maple trees best, red and gold.
3. Who did you idolize when you were growing up?
My Aunt Jean, somewhat, she was a nurse and the reason I became one.....I had a lot of roll models in the family...I think I wanted to be most like my Mother
4. When was the last time you did something 'arts and craftsy'? Share please.
I've not finished anything since this which I shared on my blog a couple of weeks ago.

5. What's a place that makes you really nervous?
Since I have a fear of heights....that would be any place without solid footing on all sides like a mountainous road with a drop off on one side.......driving in lots of traffic in an unfamiliar place makes me nervous, too.
6. Horse back riding...yay or nay (neigh?)
I like horses and we owned them at one time but I'm not a fan of riding.
7. What is your favorite cliche?
"Home is where the heart is"  I don't think I use these very often
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Outside my window, this morning, its still cloudy and may rain...I think rain is forecast most of the week....a good week for staying home and being crafty....or reading....or napping...I've noticed the Cotton is about ready to be harvested....that is what's growing most in our area...when I was a child, schools were only in session half days then and sometimes were closed for a whole week.....Yes, I picked cotton.....I remember how chilly it was early in the morning when we went to the field and how hot it was after lunch which we usually ate near the wagon where cotton sacks were weighed....it was like having a picnic....my Mother made syrup cake or banana bread...that might be in our lunch....or baked sweet potatoes in the skin....most likely a biscuit from breakfast with something in it....a sweet memory from my childhood......a simple Fall pleasure.

  1. I don't think I've ever had white chili. Love fall colors -- leaves are just starting to turn here. I fear heights and driving in heavy traffic in unfamiliar places, too.

  2. I don't mind heights but I do not like heights and enclosed spaces combined (like cable cars up the side of a mountain)...I love the fall too and enjoyed your memory in #8

  3. I have good memories of baked sweet potatoes also. We used to carry them walking to school -- IN OUR COAT POCKETS to keep our hands warm! Then eat just before we got to school.

  5. I love the fall colors, they just all blend in together so well. I didn't realize I had a fear of heights until we went camping last year and went to a number of places with waterfalls. Hugs

  7. Why did I not know you were a nurse? How did I miss that? Mom was a nurse and I have her little white hat and a picture of her receiving it back in the 70's My estranged sister is in the health care field also...... I cannot even go into a nursing home! I did not get that gene. I am artsy and crafty in more ways than one! Did you enjoy your years as a nurse? Did you retire? Here I am asking all these questions..

I am afraid of horses and I cannot eat chili at all..... Poor stomach.....

  8. I am with you on the fear of heights -- I get what do you call it ??? Vertigo! It is such a creepy feeling. Chili sounds so good on this very chilly day! Oh, and the same with horses. I really don't miss them much but my hubby does.
